Advocacy

Since 1964, the Northeast PA Manufacturers and Employers Association (MAEA) has been front and center defending employers’ business interests and protecting your bottom line. We’ve been in Washington, D.C., the state House and the courthouse working to ensure that your voices are heard. MAEA’s collective voice currently represents approximately 300 businesses and 75,000 jobs and employees across the country.

MAEA has been at the forefront in identifying the process involved in communicating the Legislative Pro-Growth, Pro-Manufacturing Public-Policy Agenda from Northeast PA to Harrisburg and then on to Washington, D.C.

The first part of the process is educating company employees on proposed labor employment policies.

“MAEA pursues an aggressive government relations program on behalf of its members, working to represent their interests in Harrisburg and Washington. MAEA provides information about some of the current issues affecting manufacturers and employers. The Association’s Legislative Roundtable series gives members a direct line to our local, state and federal elected officials.”

The second part of the process is the grassroots efforts that MAEA has been involved with for many years informing our members of legislative activity on both the state and federal levels. Our members can learn what’s new in state politics and legislation by checking out “What’s Hot Under the Dome.” We’ll keep you up to speed on emerging topics and provide links to help you stay informed on the newest issues.

Our Legislative Arena is the online extension of our traditional government relations efforts. Here you will find an electronic version of the PMA Legislative Directory, where MAEA members can identify their state and federal legislators and read their biographies. The Legislative Directory also provides e-mail and website hotlinks for legislators, along with phone and fax numbers and traditional mailing addresses. As warranted, the association will issue Legislative Alerts to draw attention to urgent issues for manufacturers, who can then contact their legislators by e-mail directly from the MAEA website. The Legislative Arena also features news updates, lists of important bills, and many other features to help our members communicate with their elected officials.

Our Legislative Links area provides members with official information sources in Harrisburg and Washington to give direct access to the latest happenings in state and federal government.

It is more important than ever for manufacturing executives and employees throughout the United States to join together and make their voices heard – through phone calls, faxes and e-mails – to support issues important to the manufacturing community and a vibrant and competitive economy in the future.  MAEA has been working with NAM on many key issues throughout our history.  Your grassroots efforts continue to make a difference in Washington.

“If we were left solely to the wordy wit of legislators in Congress for our guidance, uncorrected by the seasonal experience and the effectual complaints of the people, America would not long retain her rank among the nations.”
